The path to lowering your energy costs starts here. Our Energy Services team can conduct a low cost (and in some cases, no cost) home energy assessment if you reside in Greater Rochester or the surrounding counties. Learn more about our energy services below.

Energy Services

An Energy Assessment is a review of your home’s overall energy efficiency, which can be affected by many things. Roof condition, insulation levels, outdated appliances, old furnaces, leaky hot water heaters, and old windows can have a negative impact. Our goal is to see where your home is losing energy so that ultimatley we can formulate a plan to save you money on energy costs. 

Our BPI-certified technicians will help you prioritize your needs to reduce your heating and cooling bills, with unbiased advice to help you make the best decisions for you and your home.

Start here – Income Guidelines:

New York State’s Assisted Home Performance with Energy Star Free Home Energy Assessment Program gives property owners access to a free or reduced cost residential home energy audit so that you can save money and energy. Eligibility for Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program is based on income and household size.

**Note: If your income is above the eligibility limit for AHP with Energy Star, you may still qualify for the EmPower Program. To Apply for Assisted Home Performance with Energy Star:

1. Download and PRINT this Application Form

2. Fill it out completely and sign it

3. The easiest thing to do is to send us your application. Please include a copy of your current utility bill and we will submit it to NYSERDA for approval:

4. Once your application is submitted and NYSERDA deems you eligible, they will provide you with a “Reservation Number.” You then have 90 days to get your audit completed. Contact us at Energy@nwcommunitypartners.org or call (585) 327-4710 to schedule your appointment.

5. When the assessment is completed, our BPIcertified technician will provide you with a Home Analysis Report. We will review your results, which include a cost-benefit analysis, health and safety concerns and solutions specifically for your home.


EmPower Income Guidelines:

Homeowners and renters must meet income requirements to qualify for EmPower New York. You may be eligible if you can answer “yes” to these statements:

  • I live in a home or building with 4 units or fewer;
  • My household income is below 60 percent of the state median income (as listed below) and/or I receive HEAP, SNAP, TANF, or SSI benefits;
    OR
    I participate in a utility payment assistance program;
    OR
  • I am an electricity customer of National Grid, NYSEG, Rochester Gas & Electric OR heat with oil, propane, or kerosene;
  • I am responsible for paying utility bills

3. The easiest thing to do is to send us your application, along with the required documentation (page 2 application checklist) and we will submit it to NYSERDA for approval:
